James Shannon

James Shannon started dancing at the Canberra Dance Development Centre and the Quantum Leap Youth Dance Company and is a graduate from the Victorian College of the Arts. In 2007 he joined Tasdance to perform in Mercy: a dance for the forgotten. He has worked for Fiona Reilly, Shaun Parker, Anna Smith, Natalie Cursio, Natalie Weir, Carol Wellman, Solon Ulbrich, and Kate Denborough, touring works nationally and internationally.

James performed for Cadi McCarthy Company in Shambles, for Bec Reid in With a Bullet, The Album Project, in Chunky Move’s Black Marrow and Mortal Engine, and Lucy Guerin Inc’s Pieces for Small Spaces season 2008. Shannon is a recipient of the Tasmanian Minister of Youth Arts Award. With the direction of Kate Denborough and Gerard Van Dyke under the KAGE coach mentorship, James recently began co-creating his own work in an Arts Centre residency programme.
