The Choreographic Secondment Program is a subsidised program that provides professional development and mentorship to an emerging maker – with less than five years of professional practice – by way of direct secondment to the Artistic Director on all new Chunky Move productions. In the role of Assistant, the secondee has the opportunity to observe and assist in the creation process through rehearsals, production week and opening.

We are pleased to announce that the latest recipients of our Choreographic Secondment placements are dancers and Countertechnique teachers Linton Aberle and Chimene Steele-Prior. Linton and Chimene will be working alongside Anouk van Dijk on ANTI—GRAVITY.

In 2015, dancer Luigi Vescio assisted our Artistic Director Anouk van Dijk during the creative development of Depth of Field, and also performed in the work.

In 2014, the Choreographic Secondment was dancer, teacher and choreographer, Niharika Senapati. She worked alongside Anouk van Dijk on Complexity of Belonging.

“I am so excited to be apart of this program, to witness a show grow to its entirety from start to finish. As a dancer, I am usually involved in the creative side, but never actually see and understand how things work beyond the studio.

I will have the rare chance to participate in creation as well as ask questions of the Artistic Director, observe the choices being made and transfer this information to my own practice, a unique opportunity that is hard to find. It will be a wonderful way to gain a deeper insight into my own craft as emerging maker, with an exceptional group of people in a richly creative environment.”
