Alya Manzart is a Melbourne-based performance artist, maker and teacher. He has worked and toured internationally with Chunky Move for the past seven years performing in Anouk Van Dijk’s productions Complexity of Belonging (2014-18), 247 Days (2013-14) and An Act of Now (2012-17). Alya has worked with Tasdance performing in Evolve Revolve by Liesel Zink
and Gabrielle Nankivell (2016) and Affinity by Graham Murphy and Stephanie Lake (2015).
His previous work has included performances with Opera Australia, Drill Performance Company, Kylie Minogue, Phillip Adams, Helen Herbertson and 2nd Toe Dance Collective.
His dance film Subliminal Mind was selected for presentation at several film festivals in both Europe and Australia. Alya was invited to teach in Europe at Marameo Dance Studio, Danceworks Berlin, The Henny Jurriens Foundation and Theater Pfortzeim Dance Company.
He also teaches at Chunky Move, Victorian College of the Arts, Tasdance, Transit Dance and The Space. Alya graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2010.
