Initiated by Anouk van Dijk in 2006, the One Body, One Career intensives offer two weeks of exploration and knowledge building for professional dancers and advanced students who want to look further into the demands and physical implications of pursuing a long, healthy and successful career in dance.
At the heart of each intensive lies Anouk van Dijk’s movement system and training method, Countertechnique, taught by Master Countertechnique teacher, Nina Wollny and Anouk van Dijk herself. In addition, participants also study complimentary movement practices with renowned teachers such as Tom Koch (Alexander Technique), Michael Schumacher (Improvisation), Anat Geiger (Yoga) and Daniela Graca (Ballet and Improvisation), who have all taught at previous One Body, One Career intensives.
In July 2015, Chunky Move will host the eighth edition of the One Body, One Career intensive – the third time this internationally renowned course had been held in the Asia Pacific. During the intensive, participants are given a practical insight into the distinct elements and methodology that form Countertechnique. Through theory, physical training, discourse and workshops, participants were introduced to how to apply Countertechnique principals into their daily training and creative processes.
Complimenting Countertechnique classes and Practical Tools sessions are additional workshops that are taught in partnering, repertoire, composition and improvisation. In addition, participants study Alexander Technique under the guidance of expert American teacher, Tom Koch, who has worked with professional dancers across Europe and America, including extensively with dancers from Ballett Frankfurt, The Forsythe Company and Nederlands Dans Theater.
